WELCOME – to the City of Camdenton website.  Camdenton is the county seat of Camden County, nestled on the West side of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks  frequently referred to as the “quiet side” of the Lake.  We are approximately 5 miles from the historic Ha Ha Tonka State Park and home to the annual Dogwood Festival  held each April. The City of Camdenton was incorporated in May 1931 with a strong commitment to continuous improvement to the “quality of life” for its residents. The City is 5 miles square with a permanent population of 2,779 residents (2000 census). The area offers expansive forest, rolling Ozark Mountains and has over 4 million visitors per year who come to enjoy the water sports, fishing, hunting, hiking, and the natural beauty of the outdoors. The Town Square is located at the major intersection of U.S. Highway 54 and Missouri Highway 5 where over 10,000,000 vehicles travel annually.

With the recent voluntary annexation of an additional 300 acres of property to the Northwest, Camdenton City limits now reaches to the Lake.  The development on this property could provide as many as 400 new residences.  Another 100 acres of voluntary annexation to the East along U.S. Highway 54 was approved and the developers have plans for construction of a “retail destination” in Camdenton.

The excellent quality of life in Camdenton is exemplified by the winning Class 4A school system , with enrollment of over 4,000 students.  In the fall students will begin classes in the newly constructed state of the art High School.

The foundation for economic development  is excellent infrastructure and Camdenton is committed to providing our customers with outstanding City services..  The new State Highway 5-corridor grading should be complete by late summer 2008.  The total project completion is anticipated for 2010 and we are confident the new Highway 5 project will improve traffic flow into and out of Camdenton.  The new outer road will allow property along the corridor to be used for both commercial and residential development.

Camdenton is growing rapidly both in population and in commercial expansion.  We are attracting new business because: There are no City property taxes; competitive wage rates; low utility rates; low crime; and a wonderful community to raise a family.  Firms looking to locate in Camdenton will find that City leaders have a proactive approach to economic development and to evaluating tax-financing instruments.  Camdenton is the place to live, work and have family fun.

Our Airport  is an important element for attracting businesses to the 90-acre Camdenton Business Park , which is located immediately adjacent to the Airport.  The Airport is operated by a Fixed Base Operator, Lake Aviation Center, LLC , who also offers a variety of additional aeronautical services.

Be sure to visit our 65-acre Camdenton Community Park with its state of the art aquatic facility, baseball fields, newly renovated tennis courts, basketball courts, nature trail and picnic pavilions.

Camdenton has a Strong History and Exciting Future continuing to grow by: voluntary annexation, population, retail expansion, housing and attracting new industry to the community.  We are committed to quality: education, business and recreation.  Whether you have already made Camdenton your home or you are interested in making a move to Camdenton, we encourage you to browse our website to find out what Camdenton has to offer.

 Sincerely, Mayor Michael R. Wackerman
